This job provides a service to children under 12 years and their families. We assess behavioural problems, develop plans and evaluate treatment. The job also involves promoting positive mental health by working with groups in the community such as the post natal depression group and autism groups. We also established an ADHD group. Part of this role includes providing education to staff and a consultation service.
Specific qualifications and experience required
Health visitor qualification with extra training in behaviour management
Career Milestones
Becoming a health visitor working with families in the community. I would also say that when I worked in Bristol in the 1990's, my manager encouraged and facilitated me to set up programmes to work with parents to look at how their parenting experience has impacted on their parenting. I also received a lot of help from our local children and family clinic in Bristol.
